Ambiance - West Indian/Caribbean (of you know, you know) Food: hmm - rice... ok - oxtail gravy...delish - jerk chicken... ok - fish... too dry - festival... too dry and hard (maybe need to be wrapped and not stay on stovers*) - vegetable - delicious; perfectly cooked The grocery is good; many products/ingredients to make a tasty Caribbean meal. Staff is friendly. Service at food is slow; maybe order ahead if in a rush.

To my vegetarian friends and sympathizers, I’m sorry I’ve failed you. I was curious about the freshly steamed vegetables that just came out as I approached the food counter. The sales associate said they were really good but with my cynicism, I asked for the smallest container possible. I came back to work, opened the mini container and found a colorful and flavorful dish that would have filled my belly if I just added some rice & peas and more of the delicious vegetables. All I have left is shown the picture. Sorry…is all that I can say.

This place is great. Whenever I need my Jamaican groceries that I can’t get anywhere else, I can find it at Sam’s. They also serve cooked food that’s delicious and they have parking. Prices are very reasonable and good customer service. They are worth the drive to Long Island. I appreciate not having to drive to the city for my Jamaican groceries.

This is one of the most pleasant and fulfilling acts I have to do in recent times. And that is to highlight a small business that has created an environment to eat, meet and greet friends and acquaintances that you’ve missed. Whenever I go to Sam’s Caribbean Marketplace, I do so for three reasons (1) to get some of the most delicious Caribbean/Jamaican food anywhere. (2) To simply sit open my computer and catch up with my emails and (3) to see people I haven’t seen for months or years. Great food good vibes/music, helpful staff and almost everything I need for for the kitchen. On every level Food , Customer Service & Environment Sam’s Caribbean is one of the establishments I treasure!
